When Water Falls explores the presence of synthetic materials in nature. A glossy surface evokes the image of falling water. Light, reflection and movement make the material constantly change shape: what appears liquid turns out, on closer inspection, to have a tangible, constructed form.

 

The work plays with the tension between the allure of a natural phenomenon and the alienation of its artificial appearance. What at first looks organic and familiar turns out to be mechanical and takes on something ominous. In this way the boundary between a natural and a fabricated reality blurs, revealing how our perception is guided by the suggestion of movement and matter.

 

The material is continuously reused to create the next version of the work.
