LUCID
Spatial work, scenography, Draaimolen Festival, 2022–2023
Dimensions: 1000 × 700 × 700 cm
Materials: wood, acrylic
The Lucid Stage is a scenographic work developed for Draaimolen Festival, in which light, space and construction come together in a single integrated system. At the heart of the design, a prismatic totem hangs suspended above the stage, acting as the primary light and reflection element of the installation.
During the day, the installation responds to natural sunlight, which is refracted by the prism and scattered in spectral patterns across the stage and the surrounding space. As night falls, the work shifts to an artificial light regime: the prism reflects a laser light field that structures and activates the space in and around the work.
This transition from natural to artificial light lies at the core of the work and underlines the continuity between analogue and digital systems. The Lucid Stage explores how light can act as a connecting medium between natural phenomena and technological intervention within a performative context.
